4 Villages Down, 1 to Go

Posted by Sharon

As of 3PM today (Nov. 23), there are only 3 cabins that need a new roof along with the cabin extension.  Those construction workers are just going so fast!  There has been a lot of progress since the last Construction Blog.  They have finished adding the roofs and extensions on all Cheyenne cabins and Choctaw 14.  They are almost finished with the electrical work on Cherokee Hill.  And they are finishing putting up the T1-11 in Chippewa 1 and putting the finishing touches on it.  T1-11 is the wood that is going on the inside walls of the cabins.  I know I keep saying this, but the cabins look so good!

They haven’t actually finished a cabin yet, but they are getting the major stuff done first before it gets too cold.  Don’t forget, if you comment on any of our blogs, your name will be entered into our monthly drawing for a free store!

Guinness World Record Speed Stacking Results

Posted by Sharon

As some of you may have read, Ridgecrest Summer Camps was involved in breaking the Guinness World Record for “Most People Sport Stacking at Multiple Locations in One Day” this past Thursday, Nov. 12.  Last we saw, there were over 270,000 people signed up to participate.  Well as we were stacking here in the office, we decided to have a competition of our own.  For all of you thinking about what skills to take this summer, you should think about Speed Stacking (aka cup stacking).  Try to beat our times!

We do get work done here in the office as opposed to what some of you may think.  We hope you enjoy the entertainment we try to provide for you!

Such a blessing

Posted by Sharon

I was walking through Crestridge this morning and this whole project started becoming more real to me.  My thought process went like this, “Wow, I can’t believe we are getting all of our cabins re-done in one year.  That’s 20 cabins.  20 cabins is a lot to do in 5 months.  That’s also a lot of money.  Man, that really is a lot of money.  It’s amazing how far Crestridge has come since 1955.  God, it’s because of You and for You.  You provided the money, the people, the contractors, the ideas, the materials.  It’s all because of You!  Wow, this is SUCH a blessing!”

I love moments like those, when things become so real to you.  It gives us a whole new appreciation for the way God works!

Well, here is an update on the construction.  They have officially taken off every old roof and removed all bathroom facilities!  They are now on to Cheyenne Hill, where they are putting on the new roofs and building the extensions.  Then they’ll move to Choctaw Hill and be finished with the Demo phase.  Another crew has put metal roofs on all Chippewa, Chickasaw and Cherokee cabins.  They have also been working on the plumbing and electrical work on Chip/Chick Hill.  The new floor has been added to Chippewa 1 and it looks great!

Please continue to pray for the construction that’s going on.  It’s a huge task, but the construction workers are doing a great job!

Experiencing Asheville and its Surroundings

Posted by Sharon

Each session, our villages have the opportunity to take a trip out of camp.  We’d love to show you just a few places they visited this summer.

Some that you did not see in the video include whitewater rafting on the Nantahala, tubing down Deep Creek, Sliding Rock, painting pottery, WNC Nature Center, ice skating, Upper and Lower Creek Falls, and more.  It’s always a fun and exciting time at Camp Crestridge!

Chips/Chicks…Check, Cherokees…Check

Posted by Sharon

I’ll tell you what, those construction workers are fast!  They have now finished the first phase on Cherokee Hill and started with the Choctaw Hill.  It was quite a sight to see all four cabins with no roofs and no bathrooms.  Again, it was confirmation that they really needed some work done!

They are now on Choctaw Hill removing the old roofs, the back walls, and the bathrooms.  I’ll post pictures soon.  I hope you all are enjoying the fall season.  Can’t believe it’s already November, but we are looking forward to the holidays!
