Retro Friday

Untitled 1The Dining Hall is one of our most important buildings at camp. We eat meals there, have skills and activities, sing at the top of our lungs during dinner, and may seek refuge there during a thunderstorm.

Did you know that we did not always have a Dining Hall at camp? That’s right. In the summer of 1955, Camp Crestridge’s first summer, there was no Dining Hall. Instead, all the campers had to put on dresses for every meal and walk to and from the conference center

for their meals. They did this three times per day! Can you imagine? Fortunately, the Dining Hall was constructed before the following summer and it has been a home to many memories in the meantime.

What are some of your favorite memories in the Dining Hall?

Kathleen Sullivan!  Kathleen was the first person to send in the correct answers for the Online Scavenger Hunt which started at 5PM on Tuesday.  It was a very close race with many participants, but Kathleen pulled through to win $50 to our Clothing Store this summer!  Here are the correct answers:

My Ideal Day at Camp

The first thing I want to hear in the morning is the sound of the     Wake-Up Bell    and Marva’s voice ringing loudly over the speaker. All morning when I am at skills I think about      Chicken  Tender     Tuesday . That is just what I need to give me the energy I need for my favorite activity – sock war! The only problem is that I have a sweet tooth, but that will be  satisfied  by going to the   Beehive   to get some Reese’s Cups. After working up a sweat during sock war, it feels great to  blob   into the nice cool lake. After free swim, a few friends and I go find  dry  firewood and start building the tepee  so we can cook  Crossover   S’mores . But we can’t hang around for too long because we get to go sing campfire songs with Singing   Sequoia. There is no better way to end the day than to sit the fire and watch the embers float into the starry sky.

We hope you enjoyed the Online Scavenger Hunt!  It won’t be long until you are living out the ideal day at camp!

“Ghostings” on 1B Campers

Posted by Karah

We like to have a little bit of fun here at Crestridge.  Last summer, this was one way we did that. The goal was to follow a camper with the video camera and see how long it would take for them to notice they were being followed…and then see their reaction.  Enjoy these videos of “ghostings” on campers. P.S. Don’t forget to look at the faces – it’s the best part!
